Have you ever heard about the 7 P’s of performance? Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.
Truer words could not be spoken. Have you ever had an event or goal derailed due to the lack of planning? You learn during this process to put a plan in place that will get you the best results possible. What do you want in your life? For most it is better health, wealth and relationships. When these key areas are working well there is more happiness, joy, fulfillment and abundance.
Successful Mindset
Most people plan from the wrong mindset when they do plan. They plan from a place of fear, doubt, insecurity, hopelessness, etc. It is important to plan from a mindset of abundance and peace. If you plan from the wrong mindset, it often ends up in giving up. When you plan from the right mindset, it fuels your desire to succeed and propels you to your goal.
Planning For Success
The first step in planning is to think about what it is that you want. Like GPS on our phone you can’t get where you’re going until you know where you are at now. Getting a solid picture in your mind of what you truly desire will naturally get you into the right mindset. Think of one thing that you truly desire. This needs to be something that you emotionally connect with and will motivate you past the speedbumps that may come up. If thoughts come up such as “I can’t do that” or “that can’t happen”, immediately reframe those thoughts to “I will do that” and “it is possible”.
If you can’t think positive thoughts about your goal, it may not be something that you are passionate about and will follow through on. Take an hour or a few hours and really focus on what you want, eliminating any negative thoughts about the speedbumps that you may encounter. Imagine yourself achieving your goal. How will you feel? How will it change your life? What will it do for you? If it feels good and will create positive changes in your life, then it is a great goal for you to have.
Now, write your goal down, being specific with what it is that you want. Once you know what your goal is and you feel good about it, the next step is to go backwards from your goal to where you are now. Imagine that you have achieved your goal and write down the steps that it took to get to your goal from where you are currently at. Breaking it down in this manner makes it surmountable. It gives you steps that you can take from this point forward.
Understand The Journey
Understand what systems and processes can be put in place through “planning” your life to create the difference that you seek and are deserving of getting more often. Plan with someone who will keep you accountable to your plan and help you get back on your plan when you encounter challenges. The right person, perhaps even a coach, that has accomplished what you want more of in your life (or is helping others attain their goals) is available now. Who will you ask for help to guide you through the challenges? How will you know you have the right person?
Expect Challenges
Challenges will happen. For my wife and I, it was her near death experience in the hospital. Despite our extensive planning, we had not anticipated that particular challenge. However, because we had done some planning, we did not lose our house or our business. That experience even revealed some places that we could plan even better. Through the use of mentors, we have overcome other challenges, learned from them, and have set up our lives up for continuing abundance. You can do the same thing if you are willing to change how you think and do things.
As Einstein says, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Planning With Purpose
Out of your planning you will want to include your purpose, mission statement, vision statement, beliefs, values, action steps, goals with milestones or benchmarks, and the more you understand yourself and what type of lifestyle you want the easier it will be to achieve that lifestyle. This is accomplished quickly with a coach skilled in asking you open ended questions and you finding the answers within yourself. A coach with a proven system.
I have a proven system developed over 20 years of coaching people. It takes you through a system of processes that allow you to find the answers and develop the solutions. The answers are inside of you. We work them out and put them on paper, reframe them, get you to start taking daily inspiring action and seeing the positive changes that will occur in your life. It is truly remarkable how fast the resources come into your life when you realize your plan, goals, dreams and start taking action to see, hear and feel them come true.
